Lent, Holy Week, and Easter - Message

Dear Friends,

From the clergy team to all parishioners:

It was a joy to celebrate Christmas with all the churches and communities across the Ministry Area. Soon we will be celebrating Easter, but first we have the opportunity to journey together through the season of Lent and Holy Week. There are many ways to keep a ‘Holy Lent’, but as a Ministry Area, we have a few special services and events to encourage us in our discipleship.

Begin Well:
Lent begins in less than a month, on Ash Wednesday, 18th of February, and this will be marked by special services of Holy Communion with “Ashing”.

Pray:
Prayer is the life-breath of faith; this Lent be encouraged to pray with the Ministry Area each week by attending our special lenten services of Evening Prayer.

Palm Sunday & Holy Week:
Holy Week, the 7 days leading up to Easter begins on Palm Sunday, when the whole Ministry Area will be gathering as one at Nolton Church, for a Palm Sunday procession, and Holy Communion. We will be joined by the Archdeacon.

From there we journey towards the cross and resurrection of Christ as a community, with daily services, following the path of Jesus.

Triduum:
The ‘Three Great Days’ or Triduum that stretch through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, special events and services give unique flavours and perspectives on those days. 

Easter:

he great triumphant celebration of the Christian faith, as one contemporary hymn puts is: “Death is dead, Love has won, Christ is Risen”.
