St David’s, Laleston

For 800 years, and for many years before that, this Church has stood at the centre of the village, but it is so much more than a historical building. This is a living Church, a centre for worship and a focus for the Christian ministry that continues to emanate from this place.

You’re invited

A site of historic importance we join together to worship in the Anglican tradition. Our services vary between Holy Communion and Morning Prayer each Sunday morning, and we have a weekly Wednesday service of Holy Communion.

Some years after the Norman invasion of Glamorgan in 1088 the Celtic Church on the site of St David’s, Laleston was demolished and a new much more substantial building, commissioned by de Lageles, was completed in 1140. Almost a century later it was extended using stone from the demolished St Cewydd’s Church in the Manor of Llangewydd. The extension building work was completed in 1226.

This means we are celebrating 800 years of our present church. An historic landmark.
